SEE ADDITIONAL DATE FOR THIS WORKSHOP - SUNDAY 21 NOVEMBER. This is a visually appealing basket which is not as difficult to make as it may look, and consequently can be achieved in a day. The handle is created from a 'found' piece of wood which you will be asked to source yourself in advance, and the basket will be designed around it, so the eventual shape of each participant's basket will be unique.
You will need to bring along a suitable handle for this basket; perhaps a piece of driftwood or a dead branch of a tree - ideally nice and smooth with a comfortable hand-hold. The basket's shape may differ from the photograph, but they will all feature the asymmetric top and the attached wood handle.
The price of this workshop includes all materials, use of tools and refreshments
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, but please bear in mind that a certain amount of manual strength and dexterity is required when working with willow. All projects covered on my workshops have been selected for their relative simplicity and suitability for beginners. Throughout the workshop participants may need to use specialist basketry tools (provided), many of which are either sharp or pointed, so a sensible approach to personal safety is essential!
A work apron is recommended.
Maximum class size is 10 at this venue.
Refreshments are provided - please bring a packed lunch – there is no shop in the village.
