If you have never tried your hand at basketmaking, or any form of weaving with willow, this could be the ideal introduction. On this one-day workshop you will experience handling willow, creating simple shapes, and weaving basic designs. You will go home with at least three items: a willow wreath, a woven fish, and a garden sunflower. You may also be interested in my "Willow Weaving Wednesdays" which run one afternoon a month from September through to April. Each session has a different, but simple topic. You can book these sessions individually or as a block of eight.
Introduction to Basketmaking Workshop: 10am - 5pm
£75 - The price of this workshop includes all materials, use of tools and refreshments
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, but please bear in mind that a certain amount of manual strength and dexterity is required when working with willow. All projects covered on my workshops have been selected for their relative simplicity and suitability for beginners. Throughout the workshop participants may need to use specialist basketry tools (provided), many of which are either sharp or pointed, so a sensible approach to personal safety is essential!
A work apron is recommended.
Maximum class size is 8 at this venue.
Refreshments are provided - please bring a packed lunch – though there is a village shop nextdoor where you can purchase food and drinks..
