Two lovely projects to brighten up your garden or patio. The large sunflowers, on a solid stake, look lovely placed in plant pots on the patio and add a cheer even in winter. The 3D dragonflies have a flexible stake which allows them to bob about in the breeze; a lovely addition to a pond-side setting. Depending on your speed of working you will be able to make one or two of each of these during the day.
The Sunflower is a little taster of what is required to make the base of a basket (look closely and you will see) with the addition of petals - if you enjoy this you might like to try a basket next time! Dragonflies are always popular; they use a corn dolly weaving technique and are relatively quick to make, so expect to take at least a couple of these home with you.
The price of this workshop includes all materials, use of tools and refreshments
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, but please bear in mind that a certain amount of manual strength and dexterity is required when working with willow. All projects covered on my workshops have been selected for their relative simplicity and suitability for beginners. Throughout the workshop participants may need to use specialist basketry tools (provided), many of which are either sharp or pointed, so a sensible approach to personal safety is essential!
A work apron is recommended.
Maximum class size is 8 at this venue.
Refreshments are provided - please bring a packed lunch – or you can purchase food and drink at the village shop nextdoor.
