Make a wigwam (or two) for your garden to support climbing beans or flowering climbers. Adds height and interest to the border; a feature in itself! The finished height will depend on the willow available, but is likely to be approx 7 ft with a diameter of approx 2' . . . do make sure you have room in your car to transport them home!
Using a jig (provided) to hold the uprights in place, you will weave either a spiral design or a two-band design to create the wigwam, finishing with a willow tie at the top. You will be able to make two wigwams in the day, so why not make one of each design? If you are concerned about transporting them home in your car, you can make smaller versions.
The price of this workshop includes all materials, use of tools and refreshments
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, but please bear in mind that a certain amount of manual strength and dexterity is required when working with willow. All projects covered on my workshops have been selected for their relative simplicity and suitability for beginners. Throughout the workshop participants may need to use specialist basketry tools (provided), many of which are either sharp or pointed, so a sensible approach to personal safety is essential!
A work apron is recommended.
Maximum class size is 10 at this venue.
Refreshments are provided - please bring a packed lunch – there is no shop in the village.
